Why Iodine? We used live to by the “The Golden Rule,” but the Bottom Line was poor, so it has been changed to “Gold Rules,” and iodine is certainly not gold. In fact you don’t even need a prescription, yet.
As we learn what it is that makes iodine such a critical ingredient in achieving good health, perhaps we will understand that that may be the reason it is ignored, and suppressed.
Iodine is critical in making thyroid hormone. Lack of it creates mental retardation or cretinism or enlargement of the thyroid, called goiter. Very small amounts of iodine in the diet prevent these conditions, hence “nothing else here!” Most cells in the body have iodine receptors; I wonder why? No more research needed here, don’t rock the boat!
And when there is not enough iodine around but plenty of fluoride, bromide, and chlorine, the gland will use those to try and make the hormone, but it won’t fit the receptor site, but the blood tests are normal….hence ‘hormone resistance.” This is the current situation in America.
Iodine is critical to the surveillance mechanism used by the immune system to identify abnormal autoimmune or malignant cells.
Iodine controls ‘apoptosis’ which is the normal programed death in both normal and abnormal cells. Without this all types of cells lose their normal growth/death cycles. Iodine enables cells to divide/differentiate normally. Without iodine cells are more likely to mutate into cancer cells
Iodine detoxifies the environmental and dietary chemicals we eat and breathe.
Iodine kills pathogenic bacteria, algae, fungi, virus’ (oops, they aren’t real are they, remember?)
Detoxifies biological toxins, food poisoning, snake venom, etc.
Anti-allergic processes using iodine makes external proteins non allergenic. Good Rx for hay fever, but take enough!!!
Anti-autoimmune. Makes intracellular proteins spilled into blood non-allergenic.
Fetal source of apoptotic mechanism during development and while nursing.
Protection from apoptotic diseases such as leukemia.
Antiseptic activity in stomach against H. pylori and other bacteria in the diet.
Increases the excretion of fluoride, bromide, and chloride in the urine. Not much else can do this!
Conclusion: Therapeutic actions – Antibacterial, Antiparasitic, Anticancer, Anti autoimmune, Anti-toxin, mucolytic, (thins mucous such as in COPD) universal detoxifier.
Site of actions – Every cell in the body, especially breast, prostate, ovary, intestine…where it’s needed!
Big Problems – Adequate amounts of Iodine, and a little of tyrosine, selenium, and some B vits.
The main hormone from the gland is T4, but it has to be converted into T3 to get into the cell.
Stress (Cortisol), estrogen, seed oils, vitamin A & D deficiency decrease this conversion
Reliance on blood test!!!! It has been a clinical diagnosis for 100 years!
Side-Effects are pretty little thing that “they” make a mountain of!
You can get I-Throid and Optimaxin 6.25 & 12.5mg doses
Do NOT rely on a little salt on your food for your iodine needs…….you lose!
Remember the symptoms of too much – Metallic taste, increased salivation, headache, sneezing, and as you excrete the bromide you may get some pimples.

Basal Temperature Test - - every few weeks. Remember it should be 97.8 – 98.4.
After a month or so of taking your “Iodine Dose of choice” consider doing the Urinary Iodine Retention test.
